Shinedown fans will notice a different face on stage for the start of the band’s current tour.
Bassist Eric Bass announced that he’s stepping away temporarily after experiencing what he described as a “pretty serious mental health crash.” In a heartfelt video, Bass said he’s focusing on treatment, including therapy and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), and made the decision because he didn’t feel it was the right time to be on the road. Josh Sturm (Kairos) and Zack Mack will fill in while he takes the time he needs to recover, though there’s no timeline yet for his return.
Bass has long been an advocate for mental health, and he encouraged anyone who’s struggling to reach out for help instead of trying to face it alone. We wish Eric nothing but the best as he focuses on his health, and we’ll be rooting for him every step of the way. Here’s hoping he’s back on stage when he’s ready.
