If you’re planning to hit the road (or the skies) for the Fourth of July, brace yourself… because apparently everyone else had the exact same idea.
New research from Luxury Link found that while flights across the U.S. only increase by about 16% during Independence Day week, cancellations skyrocket by more than 121%, and flights delayed by over three hours jump nearly 75%. Great… more traffic and more waiting around at the airport.
As for Nashville? We’re definitely feeling the holiday rush. The Music City ranks 18th among the nation’s largest metro areas for increased Fourth of July travel, with arriving flights up 17.7% compared to the rest of the year. But that extra travel comes with some not-so-fun side effects: flight cancellations nearly double (up 99.2%), and flights delayed more than three hours increase by an eye-popping 100.5%. So whether you’re heading out of town or welcoming friends and family in, pack a little extra patience along with the sunscreen.
