MNPD Therapy Dog Wins National Award

Metro Nashville Police Department therapy dog, Sgt. Bo has been named the winner of the 2025 American Humane Society’s Hero Dog Awards.

He was recognized for his work supporting students after the deadly shooting at the Covenant School here in Nashville.

Sgt. Bo recently retired from the Metro Nashville Police Department along with his handler. Congratulations to both!

The competition identifies and recognizes “America’s standout dogs in five categories: therapy dogs, service and guide dogs, military dogs, law enforcement and first responder dogs, and emerging hero/shelter dogs.”
