It’s not just you… It sounds like Hollywood has kept their movies squeaky clean the last few decades.
A recent study showed a dramatic decline of sex and nudity in major live-action films since the year 2000. Actually, it’s fallen 40% since then. According to Hollywood Reporter, “the number of films with no sexual content at all has risen from 20 percent per year to roughly 50 percent.”
It makes sense… look at Horror movies from the 70’s and 80’s compared to now.
So why is this? Another study found that Gen Z apparently wants to see less of it in movies, it’s not needed, or it’s overused.
The study also tracked the amount of drugs, violence and profanity in films, saying, “Profanity and drugs have slipped a bit since around 2014 or so, but are still near their previous highs. Violence dropped off a bit around the same time, but in the last few years has rebounded to be as commonplace as ever.”
