To make it clear, no, Amy Lee is not the new Linkin Park lead singer. But, would she do it on the side?
The rumor mill started churning a few weeks ago when Orgy frontman Jay Gordon vaguely mentioned that Linkin Park is working with a new female lead singer. According to Stereogum, he said, “I hear they got a girl singer now. That’s what I heard. Don’t quote me on that. I’m not sure who the singer is going to be, but I heard it was female. They might just try to move on like that. That ought to be interesting.”
Even though he said to not quote him on it, it was enough to get the rumors going online of wondering which female lead singer it could be. Of course, powerhouse vocalist, Amy Lee of Evanescence, was considered.
Amy recently brushed off the rumors and said that she is not the new vocalist for Linkin Park. Not entirely anyway…
She said in a recent interview, transcribed by Blabbermouth:
“That is an incredible compliment. I have not heard that. No, I have not been contacted or anything like that. But [I] feel like our worlds, our fanbases are a lot of the same people.”
“But no, it’s not true. But that’s awesome. They should ask me about that. I don’t have a ton of free time, but I might do it part time.”
So does this mean we can potentially get a collaboration with Amy on lead vocals? Read more from Blabbermouth HERE.
