Whatever decade you were a teenager in, of course you have a soft spot for the music you listened to in high school. We do!
There’s something about listening to the nostalgia of music from your teen years that just “hit different,” and now we have a better idea of why.
A therapist named Nikki Roy created an Instagram reel explaining how our brains hear these songs “differently” than other songs. She said in the reel, “There is a thing called neural nostalgia where researchers are actually finding that the music we listen to as teenagers binds to our brains differently than anything we’re ever going to hear as adults. Listen to that because it actually helps us get out of our heads and it helps us connect to ourselves. It makes us feel alive again.” Watch below!
So whatever bands you listened to as a teen, listen to MORE of it!
