We live in a time where a lot of bands put out singles and EPs, and focus on keeping songs under the 3 minute mark. Honestly I love a lot of bands that do that, but there’s always something dangerous and exciting about a band that puts out a full length and doesn’t care if their songs hit even the 5 minute mark. Maiden Mother Crone are absolutely the latter and if you’re looking for a record to take you on a trip, look no further than their latest full length record The Sky Lay Still, While All Around Us Fell. When I first listened to this record, I couldn’t stop until the last track, to me it’s a perfect record to listen to front to back. Each song fires into the next in a nonstop way, the way records are supposed to when you are investing the time to take them all in. A stand out track to me below is “Aeons”. It’s a darker vibe song with a hint of doom and shoegaze that may leave you wondering if this is some sort of concept record, and if it is, the concept is clearly rock n roll, because that’s exactly what this band is to me. Mother Maiden Crone is a band you should have on your radar, because this band is about to shake up the industry in a much needed way.
Now go do yourself a favor and turn this one up NOW.
