Back in 2018, Year Of October took the plunge a lot of artists are afraid to take, quitting their day jobs to pursue music full time. To say it’s paid off, would be quite the understatement of the year. The band stays busy touring, releasing records, and now they’ve even started their own record label (Watch It Burn Records). Their upcoming record, Keep On Fighting, will be released on the label May 5th, and they’ve already dropped 2 singles off it to tease what’s to come. The latest single, “Thistle” is by far my favorite song the band has released to date. The way they’ve always been able to mix fuzz filled blues riffs with big drums and powerful vocals, always speaks to the rocker inside us all. To me, Year Of October have grown stronger live and in their songwriting with every release they put out. Maybe it’s the constant time on the road, or the fact they’ve been a band for a while now, but they have hit their stride with “Thistle” and I can’t wait to see what this next record does for them. I 100% feel that this is the YEAR of October and I will die on this hill. Now do yourself a favor and turn this one up NOW.
