Well, it’s official! I got married last week! We had an amazing wedding celebration with close friends and family, and the next day, we sealed the deal by an amazing person and familiar face to The Buzz! Justin Furstenfeld of Blue October officiated my Nashville wedding.
Here’s the story…
The Goo Goo Dolls and Blue October were at Ascend Amphitheater on August 27th. My husband is a massive Goo Goo Dolls fan, and we had these tickets since before Covid. Since Blue October was the opening band that night, it was a win-win for both of us. Two of our favorite bands! The show was rescheduled for a second time on August 27th, the day after our wedding. Close call, but we wouldn’t miss it!!!
Our wedding celebration was “officiated” by one of my best friends (shoutout Chase McCabe from 102.5 The Game), but since Chase wasn’t *officially* ordained, we needed an officiant at some point around our wedding day. We didn’t exactly know what we were gonna do for an actual officiant, but we figured we would get it situated eventually.
I remember one time Justin mentioned he was ordained. Back in May when Justin last visited The Buzz Studio, I told him his next show in Nashville landed the day after our wedding and we don’t have an officiant yet. Half joking, half not, I asked if he would do the honor, and he kindly, gratefully, fortunately accepted. And just like that, our wedding weekend was about to be even better.
So on Saturday, August 27th, us, along with a few close friends, met on the pedestrian bridge near the venue. Josh said his vows entirely in Goo Goo Dolls lyrics, and I said mine in Blue October lyrics. He sang “Completely” for us, which was our sendoff song at our wedding the previous day. He said this is the second wedding he’s ever officiated, and I couldn’t have asked for a better moment with him and my husband.
Here are a few moments from the day!
