It was a cool, Autumn night in San Diego, when those in attendance witnessed what very well may have been the first alcoholic beverage to “crowd surf” from rock star to mother!
Eddie Vedder’s mom had come out to watch her son (along with Pearl Jam) rock the local masses.
In what Vedder called a “trust exercise, Vedder produced a bottle of wine and asked the crowd to gently pass it back to his mother, who’d been recovering from a tough year and “could use a drink.”
Pearl Jam fans have been known to mirror the respectful, caring personal values of Vedder, so it came as no surprise that the bottle was passed to mom without breaking or…ahem…losing volume!
