My Saturday night ritual of letting you know the songs that have been rocking me all weekend long. Turn them up and rock along with me, LOUD.
IRONTOM w/ The Dead Deads- Call Me The West
When I saw IRONTOM and The Dead Deads had teamed up to re-release IRONTOM’s single “Call Me The West”, I couldn’t wait to hear it. Seeing two musically different bands collaborate to make a sound all their own together is something I’m always pumped on. The song is as catchy as ever and has the low fi sound I’ve grown to love from IRONTOM but now it has The Dead Deads vibe all over it too and with that your Saturday night just got a hell of a lot better, YOU ARE WELCOME.
The Ivins- Don’t
The Ivins are one of those bands I’ve missed most this past year. When I think of bands that are LIVE bands, they are certainly one of them. Their latest single, “Don’t”, takes me back to a simpler time when these boys were blowing the roofs off every club I can think of. I love the signature sound The Ivins have developed over the years and this latest single is a true testament to just that. A band making their own way on their own terms and I’m HERE for it.
Roddy Woomble- Lo Soul
Anyone that knows me knows how much I love the band Idlewild. I think Roddy Woomble is one of the most unique voices in rock n roll. It’s always amazing me how he can go from such rock n roll, almost angry, music from the early Idlewild days, to a sound like his latest release “Lo Soul”. True talent knows no genre and Woomble is the epitome of that. An artist never afraid to make the music he wants, and THAT is what rock n roll is all about.
Jonathan Stoye- Inmate, Inmate
When I think of artists who can play all kinds of music and play them well, few have done it better than Jonathan Stoye. As a member of Framing Hanley, HER, and countless other projects he’s all over the place musically in the best way. His latest solo single, “Inmate Inmate” showcases that perfectly. Stoye is an artist you can’t lump into one genre and that’s one of my favorite things about him. I think he should take all his projects on tour together and then he comes out as the headliner and opens with this song.
Ethan Luck- Guadalajara
One of my favorite things about Ethan Luck is how he isn’t afraid to take risks. He even once left a really sweet gig just to record a reggae record he really wanted to do. I’ve often said I wish I had a small percentage of the talent and integrity Luck has and I mean that 100%. His latest single, “Guadalajara” is a rad instrumental tune that is up there with the likes of Kreeps and Dick Dale. To be honest this latest song just goes to prove even more that there is in fact NOTHING that Ethan Luck can’t do and do well that is.
