There has been a lot of talk lately about the COVID-19 vaccine and who should get it first.
The CDC provided recommendations to state and local governments that healthcare personnel and residents of long-term care facilities should be offered the first doses of COVID-19 vaccines.
After that it’s frontline essential workers and people aged 75 years or older and then the vaccine would be administered going down in age to people aged 65 or older, individuals 16-64 with underlying medical conditions and other essential workers.
But one question on everyone’s mind is should entertainers and pro athletes get the vaccine before the general public?
Last year Live Nation, one of the leaders in the concert industry worldwide, reported massive losses in Q3: “We estimate the lost revenue impact from the global COVID-19 pandemic in the third quarter and first nine months of 2020 to be approximately $3.7 billion and $7.0 billion, respectively.”
For a company that generated a total of 11.55 billion US dollars that number is a massive loss (and we’re not even including Q4 losses here.)
So, one has to wonder, should entertainers get the vaccine first? If so, would that save the entertainment industry? Should pro athletes be included?
