My Saturday night ritual of filling you in on the 5 songs that have been rocking me this weekend. Turn them up and rock along with me, LOUD.
The Dangerous Summer- “I’m Alive”
By far one of my favorite bands over the last couple of years. Matt Kennedy and I go way back to my StL days as young dudes both in bands playing shows together. I’m always a fan of the music he creates whether it was with The Graduate, Thomas Ian Nicholas, or The Dangerous Summer. It always seems like wherever he is, amazing music follows. I feel like this song is what the world needs to hear right now. As the crazy year 2020 is winding down, we all need to be thankful that we are alive. What a simple yet strong message lyrically. Also this video for “I’m Alive” has a feel good vibe to it and I’m here for it.
Silverchair- Pins In My Needles
Growing up, I was a massive Silverchair fan. As 25th and 20th anniversaries of their records get closer, crazy to think but true, it’s amazing to see stuff like this popping up. “Pins In My Needles” was a B-side to their 2002 “Diorama” record. Warner officially released it from the archives and I love turning this up and hearing the boys at this point in time. “Freak Show” is turning 25 in a year and a half, so I’m still hoping they will release the unreleased and much talked about single “Slime” for that one. Until then, take a trip back to 2002 and enjoy a young Silverchair with all the pressure of the world but still remaining true to the music they wanted to make. What an underrated band.
Shelter Cove- “Kaleidoscope Heart”
When this band began sending me songs years ago under the name MIRA, they were just kids in high school. To be honest, I get TONS of submissions every week for The Local Buzz and a lot of bands come and go as quickly as they send me songs. To watch them grow into a passionate band who follows their own musical path has been one of the coolest things about hosting my radio show for almost 7 years now. With “Kaleidoscope Heart”, Shelter Cove once again remind us that they are going to make the music they want to make, but we are invited along for the ride. I suggest we all get in because this band is on the rise.

Loose Fang- “Blips”
Growing up with MuchMusic I’ve always been a fan of Canadian bands. Loose Fang has quickly become one of my favorite bands in 2020. They have my favorite drummer, Ian Browne behind the kit, but also the songs just get better and better. Very rarely does a band have a cool band name, great songs, great visuals, and amazing musicianship all in one band. Somehow Loose Fang has all that and more. Their new single “Blips” really showcases the songwriting power of this band. The states need to watch out because this band is going to come in like a Canadian tidal wave and luckily for ya’ll, I’m standing here rock n roll surfboard in hand.
Jon Worthy- “She’s Alright”
Nashville based Jon Worthy is one of my favorite artists in town. He always has catchy tunes with great videos to go along with them. He makes the music he wants to make and is unapologetic and rock n roll about his every move. Music city is known for a lot of things and when you see Worthy, you are quickly reminded of the talent in this town. His new single, “She’s Alright”, really shows off Worthy’s songwriting strength. 2021 is gonna be huge for this dude and I hope we’re worthy of his talent. See what I did there?
