The long-vacant site of Starwood Amphitheater in Antioch is finally moving forward with a major redevelopment after nearly five years of planning.
According to FOX 17, the former home of Nashville’s first outdoor amphitheater will become a large mixed-use community with housing, retail and commercial space, senior living, and a new performance venue that will also serve as rehearsal space for local artists. The project has now received final Metro Council approval, clearing the way for construction planning to begin.
For anyone who remembers seeing a show at Starwood, though, the redevelopment is a pretty big deal: the venue closed in 2006 and was demolished in 2007, leaving the 65-acre site sitting largely vacant for years. Starwood was one of those places that was a huge part of Nashville’s concert history, and now that same property is finally getting a new life… just not quite the one some music fans might have hoped for.
