The pop-punk world has lost one of its longtime fixtures. Chad Gilbert, founding guitarist and songwriter for New Found Glory, has died at 45.
He had been battling cancer since 2021 and faced numerous health challenges in recent years, including brain surgery earlier this year. Despite it all, he returned to the stage in Nashville in June, performing with New Found Glory in a moment that was especially meaningful because his young daughter was there to watch him play. He died peacefully in his sleep on September 20th with his wife and mother by his side.
His guitar work, songwriting and unmistakable energy helped make New Found Glory one of the defining bands of the pop-punk era. Rest in peace, Chad.
