Middle Tennessee is about to crank the thermostat to “absolutely not.” Forecasters are warning of dangerous heat Monday and Tuesday, with afternoon temperatures in the mid-to-upper 90s and heat index values soaring between 110 and 114 degrees. The National Weather Service is urging everyone to stay hydrated, limit time outdoors, check on vulnerable neighbors, and never leave kids or pets in vehicles. The good news? There’s at least a chance for some thunderstorms late Tuesday that could bring a little relief from the relentless heat.
Basically, if you step outside and immediately feel like you’re walking into a hair dryer… that’s because you basically are. Stay cool, drink plenty of water, and maybe let Mother Nature have this one until the heat backs off a bit.
