Here’s some bad news for ya… Full-blown tours are being cancelled because of lousy ticket sales, and there’s even a name for it.
Apparently the live music world has come down with something called “blue dot fever,” aka when artists look at a ticket map and see wayyyy too many unsold seats glowing back at them. The phrase is blowing up after a wave of recent tour cancellations and postponements, with fans online speculating that weak ticket sales are becoming harder to hide. Between insanely expensive ticket prices, rising touring costs, and everybody trying to tour at the exact same time, some shows just aren’t packing venues the way they used to.
Basically, fans are getting a little tapped out financially, and the industry is finally feeling it. Concerts used to be a “guess I’m eating ramen tonight” purchase… now some ticket prices look more like a car payment. Since when is it so hard being a music fan?!?!
On that note, support local rock bands and venues as much as you can, Nashville. Read more from Consequence HERE.
