The fossil world just got way more metal: a 67-million-year-old Triceratops skull unearthed in Montana’s Hell Creek Formation has been christened “Ozzy” in a bone-shaking tribute to the late Black Sabbath legend Ozzy Osbourne, according to Louder Sound. Restored by Italy’s Geoworld Paleontological Laboratory and set to stalk the halls of the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show, this three-horned prehistoric beast now stands as a fossilized middle finger to time and extinction, echoing the same Horned Hand salute that defined rock culture and Osbourne’s own mythic persona.
The lab insists the horn-edged herbivore (a creature capable of fending off T. Rex with its own brutal gear) fits Osbourne’s legacy like leather and spikes, likening it to a nightmare beast ripped straight out of Dante’s Inferno or a Goya painting come alive. Alongside other bizarre honors like a giant mechanical bull and even a tree frog that squeaks like a bat, “Ozzy” the dinosaur skull cements the Prince of Darkness’s place in both pop culture and paleontology as a badass icon who refuses to be forgotten.
