Going somewhere? You miiiiight wanna check your flight status before you head to BNA.
According to WKRN, the Federal Aviation Administration slapped a ground delay on flights at Nashville International Airport because they suddenly found themselves short-staffed at the air traffic control tower.
What went down:
-
The FAA informed the airport around 1:25 p.m. that fewer flights would be allowed beginning at ~2:30 p.m. thanks to missing controllers.
-
On that day, about 110 out of 339 departures and 186 out of 339 arrivals were delayed. That’s roughly 39,450 passengers stuck waiting.
-
The average delay for departures? Roughly 126 minutes. Yikes.
-
Good news: Sometime overnight things “normalized” and staffing was said to return to regular levels.
Moral of the story: If you were flying through BNA that day, then yeah, you got hit. And the cause? Staffing mess. So maybe check status before showing up for your flight next time.
