Dropping someone else off at or picking them up from the airport is often simple favor you can do for someone, but for this guy, it nearly cost him $20,000.
Jim Boyd was dropping his wife off at the Denver International Airport as she was off to Germany. In total, Boyd spent 27 minutes parked in the garage, which should have been a $7 parking charge. That’s not what happened, though. Instead, Boyd’s credit card was slammed with a $19,824 charge. Apparently, the garage’s system mixed up his plate with another and thought the vehicle had been there since June!
Boyd recognized what happened as he had already heard a story on the news of the same thing (at a lesser scale) happening to another woman at the same garage. The airport corrected the charge and issued a full refund.
