Company Brings Back Dire Wolf Featured In “Game Of Thrones”

Is real life stranger than fiction? The extinct dire wolf was the mascot of House Stark in HBO’s “Game of Thrones”…and now, thanks to modern science, this wolf has come back to life! Genetic engineering company Colossal Biosciences announced the birth of two pups. Dire wolves lived during the Ice Age, and this birth could mark the first successfully de-extincted animal. “Our team took DNA from a 13,000-year-old tooth and a 72,000-year-old skull and made healthy dire wolf puppies,” CEO Ben Lamm said. “It was once said, ‘any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.’” The private company also aims to bring back the woolly mammoth.
