1.8 million followers of Howie the Crab are mourning the famous crustacean’s passing. Born in June 2015, Howie passed just months before her 10th birthday. “Howie passed away peacefully, with dignity, and in comfort,” an Instagram post on @howiethecrab reads. “Crabs are sentient and feel pain. Never boil crabs or any animal alive.” Internet sensation Howie the Crab was known for wearing unique hats and enjoying her favorite treats. “Thank you for showing the world all beings big and small deserve nothing but love,” one commenter wrote.
