A new comedy film titled New Years Rev is being developed by Green Day and produced by Live Nation Productions. The movie follows three friends on a rowdy road trip to Los Angeles where they believe that they are opening for Green Day on New Year’s Eve. The movie is written and directed by Lee Kirk, and is set to feature Mason Thames, Kylr Coffman, and Ryan Foust as the trio, along with The Office stars Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey. The film is inspired by Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong‘s reflections of the band’s early days touring across the country in a van. “With incredible guidance from Green Day, ‘New Years Rev’ tells the story of young artists chasing a dream,” said Ryan Kroft, Live Nation Productions’ head of film and TV. “Brought to life by an incredible cast, it’s a tribute to the magic of live music.” Production for the film is currently underway in Oklahoma.
