Eddie Van Halen’s signature 1993 Ernie Ball Music Man guitar which is emblazoned with the Canadian flag is going up for auction. The instrument, which has been unseen for over 31 years, was famously played by the legendary guitarist during Van Halen’s historic Canada Day concert in 1993 at Molson Park in Barrie, Ontario. Eddie unveiled the guitar towards the end of the show as a tribute to the entire country of Canada, and as a total surprise for the huge crowd. As to where the guitar has been for over the past three decades, that remains a complete mystery. Proceeds from the sale of Van Halen’s Canadian Flag guitar – which is part of Julien’s Auctions’ bi-annual “Played, Worn, & Torn: Rock ‘N’ Roll Iconic Guitars” auction – will benefit the City Of Hope, a world-class cancer research and treatment center.
