A newly discovered species of lizard in Peru has been named after Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson. Dubbed “Enyalioides dickinsoni“ the lizard was found by scientists at the Tambopata National Reserve north of Lima, Peru.
“Bruce Dickinson is not only a legend in the world of heavy metal, but also an inspiration to many due to his diverse talents and accomplishments,” said Dr. Alessandro Catenazzi, who was involved in the discovery.
This isn’t new for Dickinson, in 2019 a scientist named a new huntsman spider species after him called “Extraordinarius bruceinkinsoni”.
The tweet below says “This undated photograph published by the National Service of Protected Natural Areas of Peru (Sernap) shows an Enyalioides dickinsoni, the scientific name of a newly discovered species of lizard named after Bruce Dickinson, singer of Iron Maiden.”
