One of my favorite things about Halloween is the music you can play at your Halloween party. It’s not like Christmas, where it HAS to be a Christmas song, Halloween can just be a song with a vibe to it that fits the month of October. Here are 5 of my favorite songs for this year. None are Halloween songs but man o MAN do they have a haunted vibe that’ll scare even that one friend you have who hates Halloween.
Dead Sea Empire- I See You At Night
By far one of my favorite duos in rock n roll. These dudes have a way of making the sound of 5 dudes with just the two of them and with “I See You At Night” that sound is a haunting one. Whatever Dead Sea Empire is haunted by, I hope it keeps it up because I love the direction this band is going.
Jessica Lea Mayfield- I Wanna Love You
Clearly a song about a stalker, I’ve always thought this song was beautifully haunting. Jessica Lea Mayfield’s beautiful voice with such dark lyrics, makes for one amazing song that leaves you wondering if you should be scared of the person or not. As someone who has had an actual stalker before, I can say I WISH they had sung something like this to me.
The Whigs- Friday Night
I remember seeing The Whigs perform this song the day it was released at Grimey’s in Nashville. I thought to myself, THAT song screams October and it’s been a staple on my Halloween party playlist ever since. Very rarely do haunting songs rock, but The Whigs knocked it out of the park with “Friday Night”
Violet Moons- Witchunt
One of my favorite duos in rock n roll. Violet Moons have the perfect sound for the entire year, but when it comes to a band with haunting melodies and a full moon vibe, few do it better than them. The sound of The Violet Moons LIVES for the haunted.
Kreeps- Skull Beneath The Smile
No Halloween party playlist would be complete without Kreeps. Dom to me is the king of spooky sounds and haunting music. If you’re looking to find a band that can guide you through the darkness, look NO further then Kreeps.
