Vera Bloom dropped “Serenity” on Friday to remind us all that being un-apologetically yourself always pays off in the end. I’m such a fan of Vera Bloom and I feel like every time she releases something new, I’m always blown away by how she continues to top herself. In an industry where a lot of newer artists follow safe formulas and worry more about the image than the song, often times the song seems to be a last minute thought or forgotten all together. Vera Bloom always puts the song first and it truly shows. “Serenity” is a haunting song that Bloom described via her Instagram was written in a time of “fear and uncertainty”. That’s probably why I like her music so much, it comes from a real place, which is where the best music and art tends to come from. I will say though it’s ironic the song was written at a time in her life like that because the song leaves you feeling a sense of peace at the end of it, the way a good song truly should. Now do yourself a favor and turn this one up NOW.
