I often say I’m not a fan of new takes on classic songs because it’s always hard to even come close to topping the original. WITH THAT SAID, when I heard Sam Tinnesz was taking on Filter’s “Hey Man Nice Shot”, I had NO idea what to expect and I was waiting patiently Friday at midnight to find out. The day before it came out I saw he was getting a nod from Filter front man himself, Richard Patrick, so I knew I was in for something special.

Sam Tinnesz is one of my favorite artists because he refuses to put himself into a certain box when it comes to genres. His take on “Hey Man Nice Shot” is a newly re-imagined version of the classic song that provokes nostalgia all the while making the song new again. If I rated songs with star ratings this would be 5 all the way. Tinnesz keeps saying online that this is part of his upcoming “Influence EP” and I can’t wait to hear what other songs he makes new for us all over again. Do yourself a favor and turn this up NOW.
