My weekly list of the songs that have been rocking me all weekend long and asking you to rock along with me. Turn them up, LOUD.

Anchor Thieves- “Home”
Anchor Thieves are to me one of the most important bands in rock n roll. They constantly push boundaries and are musically fearless. They released not one, but TWO, records on Friday and already 2021 is better for it. Their latest single, “Home”, is a haunting song that will have you wanting to hit play again the second it’s over. Trust me, I’ve listened to it over 47 times since it came out. I often say I wish more bands were like Anchor Thieves, and by that I mean a band just being unapologetically themselves. Music industry take note and be more like Anchor Thieves, all of you. NOW.
Big Wreck- “Ought To Be”
Growing up with Much Music, I was always way more into bands from Canada than the states. I remember writing Matthew Good Band, Tragically Hip, and Big Wreck on my notebooks and none of my classmates knew who they were. Sad to say it but sometimes US music is a bit behind the times. Of all those bands I loved back then, few have stayed stronger than Big Wreck. Their latest single, “Ought To Be” dropped on Friday and I’m thankful I had to be wearing a mask because my mouth was open the entire time I heard it for the first time. Big Wreck has always had a way of taking their sound in a different direction and making it their own, and “Ought To Be” is a true testament to that. This is Big Wreck’s world, we’re just lucky enough to live in it.
Notelle- “Heads Will Roll”
I often say I rarely like covers more than the original, actually I say it ALL the time. Notelle, however, blew me away and fed me a big old bowl of my words on Friday when she dropped a RAD cover of The Yeah Yeah Yeah’s “Heads Will Roll”. To make a song that cool your own and somehow cooler is something few artists can do. Notelle has been killing it in 2021 with amazing singles, sold out shows, and a growing social media following that rivals major label artists. I think 2022 is the year of Notelle, someone record me saying this, because I will die on this hill.
Guns N Roses- “Absurd”
To be able to say a brand new Guns N Roses single featuring 3 of the OG members is out now is amazing enough, but the fact that it’s actually a really rad song makes it all the much cooler. I remember when GNR released “Oh My God” on the “End of Days” soundtrack and I thought back then how it couldn’t get any cooler for new GNR. Well Axl and the boys proved me wrong when they dropped “Absurd”. The song feels like everything we love about GNR from today and yesterday. I hope this band continues to put out new music, I mean why not, the band that NO ONE expected to ever get back together is back and stronger than ever so I say put out 100 records boys.
Slothrust w/ Lzzy Hale- “The Next Curse”
If there was an award for the hardest working and best indie label band in the world, Slothrust would take it in a landslide in my opinion. This band puts out my new favorite song with every single release they do. There’s always been a raw real ness with this band that’s hard to ignore and even harder to place them in a genre. Their latest release, “The Next Curse”, they partnered up with Lzzy Hale of Halestorm and my favorite collab of 2021 was instantly born. Two of my favorite singers on one track? 2021 is looking up. Turn this one up, LOUD.
