My Saturday night ritual of turning up the songs that have been rocking me all weekend long, LOUD.
The Glorious Sons- “Young King”
One of my favorite bands of the last couple of years returned with 2 rad new singles and to be honest I couldn’t tell you which one I liked more because they’ve both been on repeat on my playlist all weekend long. I saw The Glorious Sons live a couple of times over the past couple of years and the second I heard “Young King”, the first thing I thought about was how pumped I am to hear this song live. This band has a sound all their own and the way they grow but also stay true to it always blows me away. It’s funny, I get requests for The Glorious Sons weekly from a young dude named “Tippy” so tonight I’m dedicating this rad new tune to him. Turn it up Tippy.
The Lees of Memory- “Just For A Moment”
The Lees of Memory surprised us all by releasing their sophomore record, “Unnecessary Evil”, finally on streaming services. I’m such a massive fan of this record and seeing the fans reaction to finally having it on Spotify and beyond is quite amazing but not unexpected as this band has such a passionate fan base. My favorite song off this record is this song, “Just For A Moment”. I’ve always loved the tones and the bends of the droning guitars with the big drums, over amazing lyrics about missing someone. It sets such a vibe and takes you somewhere. I remember this song really getting me through the loss of someone close to me, and I’ll always be thankful to the Lees for that. I suggest spinning this one front to back tonight with the lights down low.
Cassidy Ford- “Justin Currie”
Every time Cassidy Ford puts out a new song I never know what to expect but I always know it’s gonna be unlike anything she’s done before and I know I’m gonna dig it. Never one to be caught up in trends or repeating herself, Ford released “Justin Currie” last Friday and I immediately knew I was going to love it. Anyone who is a fan of Justin Currie knows exactly why I would love this song. He’s an extremely underrated songwriter and I feel like when you find another fan of his, you’re bonded for life. Check out Cassidy Ford’s rad tribute and hear her declare her love for one of the best songwriters of our generation below. Also Justin if you’re listening, co-headline tour with you and Ford in 2021?
Moist- “Put The Devil On It”
Growing up, Moist were one of my favorite bands and still are to this day. They really stuck out in the 90s and early 00’s in such a unique and honest way. The way David Usher sings and writes lyrics has always been something I’ve marveled at and their latest release, “Put The Devil On It”, is a true testament to that. A band who has been together for well over 2 decades and has never played by anyone’s rules but their own. I always wished Moist had been a lot bigger in the states and I hope a US tour will come this year. If it does, I want each and every one of you singing along at the Nashville date to this song with me.
Rock Eupora- “Same Mistake”
I’ve always loved Rock Eupora. They’re one of those bands that has worked harder than most bands and have grown all the while staying true to exactly who they are. They’re no strangers to my Sunday night show, they once even rocked a FULL live band performance on my annual Christmas show. Throughout the years I’ve watched this band continue to passionately put out amazing tune after amazing tune, and their latest “Same Mistakes” once again raises the Rock Eupora bar. Check out their latest below but do yourself a huge favor and check out ALL their tunes while you’re there, You.Are.Welcome.
