My Saturday night playlist to fill you in on the songs that have been rocking my weekend. Turn them up and rock along with me, LOUD.
Lobby Language- “Identity”
When I saw Lobby Language dropped a new song called “Identity” on Friday, I immediately jumped into high gear to hear it. The song is a straight up rock n roll tune that channel vibes of Foo Fighters meets Beyond Here and I’ve had it on repeat all weekend long. In a world where some bands won’t even use a high hat on a recording, yet alone a drum kit, I love when bands just go balls to the wall rock n roll and that’s exactly what Lobby Language has done here, and done well at that.
Sam Tinnesz- “Dynamite”
There’s certain artists that make me proud to be from Nashville and Sam Tinnesz is one of those artists. The dude has done so much musically yet he always remains one of the most humble, grateful, and growing artists. His latest single, “Dynamite” flips the switch yet again with a new edge and once again I find myself mouth open in awe of what Sam Tinnesz is capable of. Genres and rules be damned, it’s Sam Tinnesz’s world, we’re just lucky to live in it.
Deap Valley- “I Like Crime”
I’ve always loved the unique sound Deap Valley makes. They’re such a rad mix of indie meets pop all wrapped up in a rock n roll sound only they can make. Their latest release, “I Like Crime”, continues that trend of the band making the music they wanna make with no rules but their own. I wish all bands would be more like Deap Valley, but maybe I shouldn’t say that too loud or people will start ripping them off. I feel like 2021 is the year of Deap Valley and I will die on this hill.
Scott Salmon- “How It Goes”
One of my favorite things about living in Nashville is the random people you can meet. I get asked a lot if it annoys me when people come up to me and ask if they can send me a song and I can honestly say I love it, that’s why I moved here a decade ago. I especially love when it happens to be a song as good as Scott Salmon’s latest release “How It Goes”. This song was recorded a few years back but now that Salmon is in Nashville, he’s ready to get his music out rather than sit on it and if the rest of his stuff is as good as this song, I hope he let’s us hear his entire arsenal of songs ASAP.
OURS- “Lose Control”
It’s crazy to think OURS exploded into our living rooms on MTV 20 years ago, let that sink in. Somehow this band is better than ever with their latest release, “Lose Control”. I always felt there was something so unique and genuine about OURS, almost like their music was from another world. Well I’m glad to see that world has returned and we get rad new OURS music out of the deal. I hope this band tours and comes to Nashville because I wanna see this song LIVE.
