True Villains- “Dig Your Grave”
One of my favorite new bands these days return with another song you should blast loud right now. “Dig Your Grave” has everything we’ve grown to love about True Villains and more. I love watching this band growing into their own and putting out song after song I can’t stop listening to. The more I know about this band, the more I can’t wait to see a live show. I can see it now, the lights dim, the boys take the stage, the music hits, and I’m screaming along to this song. SOON ENOUGH.
Kenny Carkeet- “The Thing About Us”
From Awolnation to Fitness to his solo stuff under his own name, I’m such a fan of Kenny Carkeet. He’s one of those artists you can’t really label and that’s one of my favorite things about him. Every time he puts something out it’s always something new and unexpected. I last saw Kenny when Fitness played the Exit/In a few years back and he’s one of those artists that make me hope things keep moving in the direction of live shows coming back. His latest song, “The Thing About Us”, is a story inside a song and I suggest you turn that story up right now.
Wheatus- “Through”
I remember seeing Wheatus back in the summer of 2000 and I’ve been a fan ever since. They’re one of those bands I always felt was underrated but they’ve grown such a cult following throughout the years I think it’s fair to say that the world is finally catching up to what the rest of us already knew. Their latest single, “Through”, has a driving force that drove me straight to listen to it 7 times in a row the first time I heard it. If this song is a sign of what’s to come for the band this year, I believe 2021 is the year of Wheatus and I will die on this hill.
The Dead Deads- “Deal With Me”
The Dead Deads re-released “Deal With Me” on Friday and it rocks harder than ever. I remember hearing about this band when I first started working up here and I was immediately blown away. Though the members have changed a bit through the years, one thing has always stayed constant, and that’s The Dead Deads ability to survive and grow as a band. I miss seeing them live and I hope 2021 will grant us that to return.
Mother Mother- “I Got Love”
Mother Mother have been one of my favorite bands for quite a few years now. I would’ve loved to have seen them open up for Matthew Good years ago as they are two of my favorite artists and I heard those shows were quite epic. There’s just something about Mother Mother that always hits the right spot when it comes to me and their music and their latest single, “I Got Love” is a true testament to that. A band that has developed their own sound and way of doing things that just makes you wanna turn them up and sing along. I have a bucket list of bands I’ve always wanted to see live and Mother Mother are in my top 5. Come on 2021, make this happen *he says to the universe.
