My weekly call to action for you to turn up the songs I’ve been blasting all weekend long. Turn them up LOUD, that is.
Raelyn Nelson Band- “Friend”
One of the first shows I ever went to after moving to Nashville was to see Raelyn Nelson Band. I’ll never forget a friend invited me and I immediately was hooked. Ever so often an artist pushes through to pave their own way making the kind of music they wanna make and the world eventually catches up to what they’re doing. Raelyn Nelson Band is one of those bands and the judging by the response her latest single “Friend” is getting, the world is finally catching on and better be ready. Here’s to 2021 being the year of Raelyn Nelson Band.
Noise Relay- “The Abhorrence”
Noise Relay is such an allusive band and I love that about them. They just really seem to love playing together and the music they put outs really reflects that straight up honest love of rock n roll. Their latest single, “The Abhorrence” is a true testament to that. Loud guitars, huge drums, and a haunting voice combined with a catchy melody and these boys are going to have a hard time keeping this low key for much longer. Hope their ready, because the world is about to be knocking on their door.
Bones Owens- “Good Day”
Bones Owens album has been on repeat since the day it came out at my place. He just has such a way of creating his own wall of sound with melodies that stick in my head. “Good Day” is the kinda song that makes you feel instantly happy the second you hear it. I’ve always loved the unique sound Owens has and seeing this video really makes me long for live music to return so I can feel this song LIVE.
Nehoda- “Shakey Pop”
Nashville’s own Nehoda came onto my radar last year and they haven’t left it since. They have a really unique and rad sound that instantly grabbed me. The big drums and guitar with the low and catchy vocals take you on a journey. Ever so often a band comes along that their music takes you somewhere and Nehoda is one of those bands. I watched their 5 Spot live stream and it got me so pumped thinking about getting to take that journey with them live and in action in 2021.
The Nixons- “In On The Joke”
The Nixons came back with a vengeance a few years ago and their music just seems to be getting better and better. Ever so often a band returns and creates their best music to date, and The Nixons are proving to be one of those bands. Their latest single, “In On The Joke” is a true testament to a band that has paved their own way through the ups and downs of rock n roll and come out stronger than ever. It’s The Nixon’s world and we’re lucky to rock a long in it with them.
