ABC/Fred LeePanic! at the Disco is once again the top rock artist of the year.
That’s according to Billboard, which lists Brendon Urie‘s band at the top of its 2020 year-end Top Rock Artists chart. The ranking combines factors including radio airplay, and sales and streaming data.
Panic! was also the leader of the 2019 year-end Top Rock Artists chart. Billboard credits the extended success of the 2018 single “High Hopes” as the reason for the group’s continued chart dominance.
Arriving behind Panic! at number two on 2020’s Top Rock Artists chart is Machine Gun Kelly, who pivoted this year from rap to more of a pop-punk sound with his new album Tickets to My Downfall, recorded in collaboration with Blink-182‘s Travis Barker.
Fleetwood Mac comes in at number three, thanks to the viral resurgence of the legendary band’s song “Dreams,” as well as the enduring popularity of tracks including “Landslide” and “The Chain.”
The Beatles and Twenty One Pilots round out the 2020 Top Rock Artists top five.
Twenty One Pilots leads the year-end Alternative Songs chart with the duo’s quarantine jam, “Level of Concern.” AJR‘s “Bang!” is number two, followed by Absofacto‘s “Dissolve,” Billie Eilish‘s “everything i wanted” and Tame Impala‘s “Lost in Yesterday.”
On the year-end Mainstream Rock Songs tally, Five Finger Death Punch is number one and number three with “A Little Bit Off” and “Inside Out,” respectively. Godsmack‘s “Unforgettable” lands in the middle at number two, while The Pretty Reckless‘ “Death By Rock and Roll” and I Prevail‘s “Hurricane” complete the top five.
The year-end Top Rock Albums chart is dominated by classic rock. Queen‘s Greatest Hits leads, followed by Elton John‘s Diamonds, Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours, Creedence Clearwater Revival‘s Chronicle, Vol. 1 and The Beatles’ Abbey Road.
