CBS All Access/CBS 2020 CBS Interactive, Inc.Marilyn Manson‘s role has been cut from the upcoming streaming miniseries The Stand.
The Antichrist Superstar previously said in a 2019 interview with Revolver that he’d been cast in the show, which is based on Stephen King‘s 1978 novel of the same name. He also recorded a cover of The Doors‘ “The End” for the series.
As director Josh Boone tells Entertainment Weekly, Manson was indeed in talks to take part in The Stand as a character named The Kid, but ultimately his role didn’t make the final cut. The show won’t be using the Doors cover either, which Boone says turned out to be “too expensive to use.”
“The show was made on a very tight budget and some of the dreams we had went to the wayside,” Boone explains. “The Kid was another casualty. When Manson wasn’t able to make it work schedule-wise, the storyline was ultimately excised and never shot, which is for the best, as no one could have slayed that role like Manson would have.”
Boone adds that he hopes to work with Manson “in the future.”
The Stand is set to premiere December 17 on CBS All Access.
