Credit: Ross HalfinMetallica’s South American tour dates have once again been postponed.
The outing was originally scheduled to launch this past April, but was postponed to this coming December due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, with the pandemic still ongoing and cases rising in the U.S. and worldwide, the trek has been pushed to 2021.
“It is with a heavy heart that we’re back in this space seven months later to announce that our South American tour dates scheduled for December of this year are once again being postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic,” Metallica says in a statement. “We’re working closely with our local promoter partners to re-schedule these shows for hopefully in late 2021 and will have an update for you soon.”
“We wish you, your families, and loved ones good health during these trying times,” the band adds. “We cannot wait to spend time in person with our extended Metallica family when it’s safe to all be together again!”
Metallica’s announcement comes after drummer Lars Ulrich said in an interview with CNBC that he doesn’t see arena rock shows returning for another year “at the earliest.”
Meanwhile, in brighter Metallica news, the metal legends announced a new “Season of Giving” charity campaign. For every bottle of the band’s signature Blackened Whiskey sold through the end of the year, $5 will be donated to their All Within My Hands charity foundation.
