It’s been 20 years since The Nixons have released new music. For fans the wait is finally over this Friday as the band releases the highly anticipated E.P. “Sonic Boom”. The band re-united in 2017 and has been touring ever since, and earlier this year they re-recorded their hits such as “Baton Rouge” and “Sister”. “We stayed true to the original versions and the only difference they may sound a little more polished”- lead singer Zac Maloy said when he called into The Local Buzz on Sunday night.
This Friday fans of The Nixons will get something they’ve waited over 20 years for. An E.P. of all brand new music from the band.
“Sonic Boom” is out May 22nd and the band who was known in the 90s for doing 300 shows a year, wanted to celebrate once again with a live show. “Given all the current restrictions we knew we had to do it in a very forward thinking way” said Maloy.
The show on Friday is taking place at Lava Cantina in Dallas and a limited amount of fans will be allowed into the show. All fans have been safely screened and will be sitting separated by “yards” inside the venue. No merch will be sold and a giant projection screen will also project the show outside in the parking lot for fans to watch from their cars or outside. The show will also be live streamed online as well, this way fans that can’t celebrate the release in person can still be a part of the night.
The info for Friday’s show and “Sonic Boom” are available on all The Nixon’s social media sites. Maloy sounded really excited about the show so here’s to hoping more live music will be in our future sooner than later.
