In partnership with Berklee, Dream Theater has announced the Dream Theater Scholarship Fund, which will “provide scholarship money to student musicians in need on an ongoing basis through the future.”
“Dream Theater has been a tremendous influence on the progressive metal scene, achieving worldwide success for their dedication to excellence in music,” says Berklee President Roger Brown.
“The Dream Theater t-shirt has been the most popular item of apparel on our campus for years, and many students have chosen to come to Berklee as a result of the band’s legacy,” Brown continues. “We are so appreciative of Dream Theater’s support.”
Guitarist John Petrucci, bassist John Myung and original drummer Mike Portnoy created Dream Theater while they were students at Berklee. Additionally, current drummer Mike Mangini was a Berklee professor before joining the band in 2010.
Dream Theater released their latest album, Distance Over Time, in February 2019.
