Steven Ferdman/Getty ImagesA man who attended a Tool concert in New Zealand last week has tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus, according to the New Zealand Ministry of Health.
The show took place at the Spark Arena in Auckland last Friday, February 28. The individual was in the “front left hand quadrant” of the general admission standing area, and the Ministry of Health advises that he “may have been infectious.”
Those who were also in the GA area are advised to be on the lookout for COVID-19 symptoms, and to contact the Ministry of Health’s dedicated Healthline number if they are symptomatic.
“Our advice is the risk is low for all others who attended this concert,” the Ministry says.
The man is the fourth confirmed positive test for COVID-19 in New Zealand. His partner, with whom he recently traveled to northern Italy, has also tested positive.
Currently, the man is in self-isolation in his home, and does not require hospital-level care.
Meanwhile, concerns over coronavirus have led a number of artists to cancel or postpone tour dates, including Green Day and Slipknot. Additionally, Nine Inch Nails duo Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, Ozzy Osbourne and Beastie Boys have canceled their scheduled talks at the South by Southwest festival.
