Ollie Millington/RedfernsHas Slipknot‘s “Tortilla Man” finally been unmasked? A new photo seems to confirm the identity of the mystery percussionist.
Earlier this week, three members of Slipknot visited the Postojna Cave in Slovenia in between the band’s European tour dates. The attraction’s Facebook page posted a photo of the visit, featuring percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan, drummer Jay Weinberg, and another guy who looks a lot like Iowa-based multi-instrumentalist Michael Pfaff. He’s been heavily rumored to be the man behind Tortilla Man’s mask.
Adding to the Pfaff theory is a photo from the cave’s visitor book, which features a signature that sure looks like the word “Pfaff.”
Tortilla Man, who received his nickname from fans due to the golden hue of his mask, joined Slipknot last year following the departure of percussionist Chris Fehn. Slipknot sleuths posited the theory that Tortilla Man’s true identity is Pfaff, since he played keyboards with Crahan in the band Dirty Little Rabbits.
Slipknot, of course, has not officially confirmed that Pfaff is indeed Tortilla Man. In an interview with Kerrang! last May, Crahan said that the identity of the new member is “nobody’s f***ing business.”
Slipknot is currently on tour in Europe in support of the group’s new album, We Are Not Your Kind. They’ll launch a U.S. headlining tour in May.
