Aaaaaand “Instagram influencers” will be crying everywhere.
CEO of Instagram announced late last week that they will be testing out ideas of hiding “likes” on Instagram posts. The reason? According to WIRED, he said:
“It means we’re going to put a 15-year-old kid’s interests before a public speaker’s interest. When we look at the world of public content, we’re going to put people in that world before organizations and corporations.”
Hiding these “likes” will slowly begin this week on certain accounts in certain parts of the country. He explains more in the Tweet below.
I think this will be an interesting experiment. Instagram is probably my favorite platform, so I love it, but I won’t get butt hurt about not getting any likes. On the other hand? A LOT of teens and 20-somethings that claim themselves as “influencers” may have a whole different take on it since they may live and die by their numbers.
Some celebrities like Cardi B are against this decision and have spoken out about it. Easy for her to say. She has 54 million followers….
