Douglas is my featured adoptable pet for No Tail Left Behind. He’s about four years old, a Shih Tzu mix, and is finally healthy again to be adopted.
His PetFinder profile says,
Douglas is about 4 years old and weighs about 13.5 lbs. He was found running loose in Christiana TN. The poor guy was matted so bad it was hard to tell he only has 3 legs. He was infested with fleas, ticks and even lice! During his first bath, Douglas’ tail actually FELL OFF!! Thanks to Barfield Animal Hospital and For the love of a dog grooming we have started the process to clean him up and get him healthy. His tail is still healing and we are killing the lice so he isn’t 100% yet but he is getting close. Douglas is looking for a home so if you are interested in adopting Douglas please fill out an application on our website www.opedanimalrescue.com.

It’s pretty heartwarming to know that approximately 3.2 million pets in animal shelters are adopted each year. But unfortunately, nearly 1.5 million animals are euthanized, according to ASPCA, and the biggest reason for this is because of the abundance of animals and lack of available space to keep them any longer, or their “time’s up.” But because of local animal shelters like Operation Education based out of Murfreesboro, we’re teaming up to raise awareness of animals in the area looking for forever homes.
