Yes, it is true that the NFL season is over. Just for a little bit though. Before you know it, the NFL draft will be happening downtown and we’ll get to see another future Pro-Bowl tight end, T.J. Hockenson, hopefully get drafted by The Titans. That is in a couple months, what about your football fix for now though right?! Enter the AAF(Alliance of American Football). They debuted last night and not just debuted, they came in with a bang! The AAF in its first game beat out the NBA’s game in head-to-head ratings. Nielsen ratings say that both games averaged more than 2.9 million viewers for the 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. time slot. By comparison, Sports TV Ratings also tweeted that the NBA on ABC averaged 2.524 million viewers in the same time slot. And of course, they backed it up with some good football. The highlight of the night(and possibly the year)was the hit of San Antonio Commanders’ Shaan Washington as he absolutely pummeled San Diego Fleet quarterback Mike Bercovici with a massive hit that incredibly was deemed a legal hit.
Watch it over and over and over again below. The next games are Saturday Feb 16th at 1pm as Salt Lake hosts Birmingham and 7pm as Arizona hosts Memphis.
