A bass player on YouTube that goes by his username Davie504 started a stream that was self-descriptively titled “Slapping the Bass But I Can’t Stop Until Flea (RHCP) Notices Me.” When I first saw this, my first thought was “Oh, here we go, another guy on the internet desperate for attention…” But, honestly, I have to give it to this dude for his sheer tenacity. I thought he would probably just play for about an hour and then give up.
But, my man Dave slap-a-da-bass for almost 3 hours straight, playing every song that came to his mind with thousands of followers commenting live about how he should give up because Flea would never notice him. But he kept trucking, and after such a long bass solo, Flea finally responded with this tweet:
It’s hard to tell from that response if Flea was genuinely impressed by how tenacious Dave was, or if he was just annoyed by a bunch of internet trolls spamming his notifications. But, either way, Flea responded, and Dave finally got to make and eat his sandwich!
