It’s official: Ozzfest is coming back in 2027. And honestly? It’s one of those announcements that hits a little differently this time around.
Loudwire says that during a recent appearance at a music industry conference, Sharon Osbourne confirmed that the legendary metal festival will return after nearly a decade away. The last Ozzfest happened in 2018, right before Ozzy Osbourne’s health issues forced everything to pause. According to Sharon, there were never plans to end it… Ozzy just couldn’t continue at the time.
Now the festival that helped launch bands like Slipknot, System of a Down, and Limp Bizkit is gearing up for a comeback in 2027, though details like dates, locations, and the lineup are still being worked out. Sharon says Ozzfest was always about giving new bands a massive stage and keeping that “summer camp for metalheads” vibe alive.
But here’s the bittersweet part: when Ozzfest returns, it’ll be the first one without Ozzy, who passed away in 2025 after a farewell performance in Birmingham.
The Prince of Darkness may not be there to headline this time, but the festival he built is still kicking. And if Ozzfest comes roaring back in 2027, it’ll feel less like a reboot, and more like a massive, loud tribute to the legacy Ozzy started in the first place.
