New research from Fanatix suggests your Christmas playlist might be doing more than setting the mood… it could be affecting your houseplants. Music analysts reviewed 90 popular holiday songs and found that softer, acoustic, and orchestral tracks (think Nat King Cole, Sinatra, Vince Guaraldi, and John Williams’ Carol of the Bells) may actually help plants grow. Scientists say plants respond to gentle vibrations, similar to running water in soil, which can encourage healthier growth.
On the flip side, louder, high-energy, or electronic-heavy holiday hits, including songs from Kelly Clarkson, Kesha, Fall Out Boy, and RUN-D.M.C., ranked worst for plant growth. So if your ficus looks sad this season, it might not be the lack of sunlight… it could be your Christmas playlist.
