StarzBack in 2019, it was announced that Marilyn Manson would be joining the cast of American Gods as a “Viking death metal frontman” in the Starz series’ upcoming third season. Now, we’ve got a new glimpse of the character.
In the newly released season 3 trailer, a long-haired, warpaint-wearing Manson can be seen on stage during a concert. “Let there be blood!” he exclaims to a cheering crowd.
According to Deadline, Manson’s character is named Johan Wengren. He has connections to Ian McShane‘s character Mr. Wednesday, who also happens to be the Norse god Odin.
American Gods showrunner Chic Eglee previously told Deadline, “As a long-time admirer of his estimable talent as an author, artist, musician, and actor, it is dope indeed to be working with Mr. Manson in season three of American Gods.”
American Gods season 3 premieres January 10. The show is based on the 2001 Neil Gaiman novel of the same name.
