Chester & Samantha Bennington, 2003; Theo Wargo/WireImageSamantha Bennington, ex-wife of Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington, is about to release her upcoming memoir, Falling Love Notes: Memories of a Rock Star Wife. The two were married from 1996 to 2005.
Speaking with Billboard, Samantha explains that her book centers around her relationship with Chester — how they met and how his career evolved.
“I began this project of my Memories around eight to nine years ago,” she admitted to the publication. “I had planned for Falling Love Notes to be released in the fall of 2017. Unfortunately, our lives changed dramatically that June.”
“Our son, family, and I needed to grieve and work on major healing. Honestly, my project took a major back seat to my life at that time,” Samantha detailed. “Now that my ending has changed and I continue to heal. I found a huge amount of purpose and needed to finish what I had started.”
She reveals that she first met Chester in January 1996 after attending a show featuring his former band Grey Daze.
Back then, the rock band was a local act with a strong following and Samantha happily bought one of their CDs. After some discussion with the drummer and the guitarist, was invited to their next gig.
“As we were talking, I saw the singer sitting down on a barstool in the back, so I went up to him to introduce myself,” the excerpt reads, revealing that Chester was fighting off a fever of 103 degrees.
“His voice was completely captivating, and his energy level was insane. You would never have known that he was sick,” Samantha continued.
The two wed later that year and had a son, Draven Sebastian Bennington, who is now 18.
Falling Love Notes: Memories of a Rock Star Wife is due out November 24.
Chester Bennington died by suicide on July 20, 2017.
