Jimmy FontaineHalestorm is throwing their support behind a campaign to help the other people who’ve been affected by the total shutdown of the concert industry: the road crews.
In a video, the band’s Lzzy Hale and Joe Hottinger talk about how it’s not just artists who’ve been suffering financially due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s also the support staff that help build the stages, rig the lights, move the equipment, drive the trucks, sell the merch and more.
“They’re the first to arrive and they’re the last to leave,” says Hale.
“Literally. Our guys…in at 7:00 a.m. and out sometimes 1:00, 2:00 a.m. and back out again the next day,” adds Hottinger, noting, “They’re they’re our family, their best friends. And we want to help out any way that we can.”
“This is a call to arms,” says Hale. “We want to invite all of our fellow musicians, our fans, all the road crews that we’ve met throughout the years, to share your stories and show us how you are, indeed, #ROADIESTRONG.”
In a more formal statement, Halestorm collectively says, “We stand with all the roadies who are struggling during this lockdown. And encourage you to show your love and support for the men and women behind the curtain.”
The band urges everyone to donate to concert promoter Live Nation’s Crew Nation global relief fund for live music crews. In addition to giving directly to the cause, you can also buy special #RoadieStrong merch to help out.
