Crush Music/Atlantic RecordsWeezer has premiered a new song called “Hero,” a track off the band’s upcoming album, Van Weezer.
The track, available now for digital download, is accompanied by a video paying tribute to front line workers amid the COVID-19 pandemic. You can watch it now streaming on YouTube.
“This one is for the stay at home dreamers, the zoom graduators, the sourdough bakers, and the essential workers,” Weezer says of “Hero.”
Along with the song, Weezer has partnered with Postmates to help bring food to health care workers, starting tonight by sending the nurses of the Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles meals from Uncle Paulie’s Deli.
In other news, Weezer has also announced that Van Weezer, which was originally due out May 15, will be delayed.
“As you know, Corona has put a crimp in many well-laid plans,” Weezer says. “Van Weezer has been no exception. And because we don’t want to give another release date until we’re absolutely sure of it, we’ll just say ‘stay tuned for more info.’
“In the meantime, we’re working hard on getting you all the new Weezer you can handle including music and more surprises getting announced later this week,” the band adds.
Van Weezer is the follow-up to 2019’s Black Album and the all-covers Teal Album. It also includes the previously released single “The End of the Game.”
